Historic Nile River Trip from Sudan to Egypt

 

 

Embark on this exciting trip and you will see historic sites all along the Nile, some dating.  back to 1000 BC. Travel from Khartoum to Aswan. At Wadi Halfa board the ferryboat as it heads north into Egypt traveling on Lake Nasser!

Travel Recap:

Day 1 Arrive in Khartoum where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. An afternoon city tour includes the National Museum, Khalifa House and Omdurman Market. Tonight we have a special dinner along the Nile River.

Day 2 Depart Khartoum heading north to our destination, the Naga Pyramids, en route pass by the Niles sixth cataract, then continue to the Pyramids.

Day 3 Today we will travel from Naga to our camp in the desert, en route today we see the Historic Sites of Moswarat, which includes the Elephant Temple and the Lion Temple. Our next stop will be the Pyramids of Merwe then on to the town of Atbara were we cross the Nile via a ferryboat. Once across the River we drive into the Biouda Desert.

Day 4 Today's journey takes us through the desert to the Pyramids of Nuri. After our visit to Nuri we make our way to Jebel Berka. This is an amazing site as it has an ancient temple built into the mountain and also the Pyramids and Tombs of El Krou. A few of these fascinating tombs are open.

Day 5 Travel will be across the desert again en route to the Village of Old Dongola. As we depart Old Dongola we follow the Nile north until we reach New Dongola

Day 6 We depart New Dongola heading towards our next stop, in the Kerma area. Here we see the Dofufa Temple and some great rock art. From there we head to the third cataract for over-night.

Day 7 Today we continue north as we visit the Secepi Site and Solip Temple
Overnight: Nubian House [B, L, D]
Day 8 Drive to Wadi Halfa, en route we pass the second cataract. Continue to Wadi Halfa for overnight.

Day 9 Depart from Wadi Halfa by ferry boat, to Aswan, Egypt.

Day 10 This morning we arrive at the Egyptian Port south of Aswan where will transfer to our Nile Cruise Ship, your floating hotel for the next five days. This afternoon, visit by "felucca" sailing boat Kitchner Island. Overnight will be in Aswan. Abu Simbal excursion is available.

Day 11 Morning visit Aswan's Old and High Dams, Philae Temple and the granite quarries. Sail to Kom Ombo where you visit the Temple with its beautiful murals and exceptional view of the River Nile. Continue on to Edfu for overnight. Tonight is a very special costume party "native" Egyptian and Pharaonic style.

Day 12 Today you visit Edfu's Temple of Horus (237 B.C.). Continue sailing to Luxor for overnight.

Day 13 This morning you cross the Nile by ferry boat to Luxor's West Bank - "Thebes." Sightseeing includes the Valley of the Kings where some 64 of Egypt's Pharaohs had their palatial resting places hewed into the sheer rock; the Valley of the Queens, the still mind-boggling Deir el Bahari, an architectural tour de force built against the sheer Theban cliff range; and the colossi of Memnon.

Day 15 After breakfast, you will visit the fascinating Luxor and Karnack Temples, a holy city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, shrines and obelisks built over centuries and dedicated to the God Amon-Ra, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu. Disembark your ship in Luxor where you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.[B]
