Community Projects

The African Continent has it all, the big-game animals, stunning beaches, magnificent scenery, massive mountains, great deserts, but most of all it is the people of Africa that make it one of the most fascinating destinations in our world.
There are thousands of projects ongoing throughout the African Continent designed to assist the local people in the betterment of their lives.

At The Other Africa we are involved with our local communities!

The Safari you are about to embark upon to Africa would not be possible to operate without the involvement of the local people and their communities. These folks do not just show up for a job, they come with their desire and passion to share their piece of Africa with you. You become a part of their family for a week or two.

If you have the desire to spend more time in Africa to assist with projects in local communities, we can assist you. Whether you have only hours or months to get involved, you can make a difference.

Please contact our Director Steve Krenzen. He will talk with you to find out your wishes and most important your range of skills. Steve will help to make sure you are matched with the geographical area you desire and the type of work that is right for you.com!

We can get you involved!

Share your valuable skills, meet new friends, make a difference.

OUR FEATURED COMMUNITY PROJECT

As mentioned above, at The Other Africa we are involved with our local guides and their hometowns. We help promote and fundraise one major project per year. This year we are helping our local guide from Timbuktu, Cherif Lamine. In addition to being our guide in Timbuktu Cherif also assists us with travel arrangements throughout Mali. He owns and operates a seven room Bed and Breakfast Hotel in Timbuktu. Cherif needs to expand his facility from seven rooms to twelve rooms. We want to assist Cherif in raising nine thousand US dollars for his expansion. You are welcome to donate money if you can. Once we have procured the funds we will head over to Timbuktu and help Cherif build the addition on to his Hotel. If you cannot donate money, we can use your time and skills. This is a fantastic project and a great way to really see and experience Timbuktu, not as a tourist, but as a local for a few days!
