What type of vehicle will we travel in?
The vehicles can vary depending upon the geographic location of the expedition, however most of the time we utilize Toyota Land Cruisers, which are set-up for desert travel. Sometimes a large truck will accompany the expedition and carry all the supplies.
What will the sleeping arrangements and accommodations be like on an expedition?
In the desert we utilize small lightweight two person tents, if you are a couple or two friends traveling together you can share a tent or if you prefer your own tent this can be arranged.
You only need to bring a sleeping bag and towel.
Sometimes we travel through small villages that do have basic motel style accommodation.
Is it safe to travel into these remote areas?
In most cases it is much safer than any big western city as we do not see many people and the people we do encounter will be nomads who will invite us to tea and conversation!
Who will be our expedition/trip leaders?
In most cases Steve Krenzen will be on the journey, if he cannot participate in a particular trip, one of his associates will lead the trip. On all our expeditions and trips we travel with a local co-leader who knows the local customs and speaks the language.
In addition to the leaders and participants, how many other staff do we have?
This will depend upon the size of the group, but we have a designated professional desert driver for each vehicle, a chef or cook, a mechanic (only on expeditions) and a couple of all around helpers or Fundi’s as they are fondly called in Africa.
Who will take care of all of my travel plans?
We can arrange international air for you if you wish. Once you are in Africa we pick you up at your arrival airport and look after you the entire time until we drop you off at your departure location. If you want us to only arrange the expedition/trip for you and you would like to take care of all other arrangements yourself, that is fine.
If I want to continue my travels to other destinations, can you assist with those plans?
Yes we can arrange any extensions throughout Africa you may desire. We have our own office in Cape Town, SA and affiliate offices in many of the large centers throughout Africa.
Do I need travel insurance and how do I acquire it
We do require every participant to purchase travel and medical insurance and we can assist you in arranging such insurance.
